I spent fifteen years writing about music for magazines that no longer exist, interviewing guitarists who were either geniuses or completely insufferable — sometimes both in the same sitting. I reviewed gear that cost more than my rent and gear that cost less than lunch. The expensive stuff wasn't always better. Lunch was.

When the last magazine folded, I didn't stop having opinions. I just stopped getting paid to have them, which, if anything, made the opinions more honest.

FretNerds is where I write about guitars, gear, technique, and the weird little details that actually matter when you're trying to make sounds you like. No affiliate link farming. No "Top 10 Guitars for Beginners" recycled from the same press release everyone else got. Just one person who plays every day, still gets excited about a good setup, and thinks the world has enough content but not enough actual answers.
